The National Minority Male Health Project is a collaborative effort involving five (5) Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs): Morehouse College, Wilberforce University, Morgan State University, Bowie State University and Lincoln University. The mission of the New Minority Male Health Project has been to develop effective, responsive and sustainable preventive health programs for men in the communities surrounding the colleges and universities. These programs build upon a broad definition of health and shared accountability among residents, community organizations, and the colleges for achieving male health improvement. It has been the vision of the National Minority Male Health Project, since its inception, that healthy communities cannot be achieved without community participation. To this end, each member institution has partnered with local Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) to provide services in the affected communities. Building community and institutional capacity and skills to work in partnership will result in more informed and sustained public engagement (Cheadle, et al 2005). This project is funded under grant number: 5 MPCMP081024-02-00
